Diploma in Teaching English As a Second Language

The Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language at Universiti Industri Selangor is a professional diploma for students who want to teach English, particularly in primary schools. It builds fundamental knowledge of the English language and the teaching of English as a second language, training students to teach confidently and create a conducive teaching and learning environment.

Graduates develop understanding of the history, philosophy, systems, practices, and challenges of educational development, with an emphasis on teaching English as a second language. The programme includes course syllabi covering linguistic and pedagogical aspects, and it develops professional attitudes, ethics, and leadership qualities. Student outcomes include designing, implementing, and evaluating ESL teaching-learning processes, applying guidance and interaction strategies, and using ICT skills for English language teaching and learning.

Pass SPM with at least three (3) credits including a minimum of C6 in English OR
Pass STPM or its equivalent, with at least a Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in any subject or its equivalent OR
Certificate in related field and obtained Minimum Standards / Certificate of Accreditation (CGPA 2.00 and above).
