The Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering at Universiti Industri Selangor is a postgraduate research programme for practising engineers. It focuses on upgrading skills in problem-solving and decision-making, especially in new situations and multidisciplinary contexts. Students study engineering major fields including Mechanical, Civil, Electronic, Electrical, and Mechatronic Engineering, with specialisations in Structural Health Monitoring, Automotive Design, Control Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Nanomaterials Engineering, Power Electronics, and Energy Generation and Management.
Students develop a research proposal with a literature review, research objectives, problem statement, significance of study, methodology, and expected outcomes. The programme includes a Research Methodology course, research execution with experimental work, data collection, and analysis, and semester progress evaluation through faculty-level presentations and an evaluation once during the study period by the Center for Graduate Studies. The programme concludes with thesis preparation and an oral defense before an examination panel.
