Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English

The Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in English at the University of Santo Tomas is a four-year program that prepares students for the art and science of teaching. It builds knowledge in pedagogy, including foundations of education, principles of teaching, facilitating learning, curriculum development, child and adolescent psychology, assessment of student learning, educational technology, instructional materials preparation, and classroom management. The program also supports disciplinal expertise.

Students study specialization areas that include English. The program culminates in an intensive one-year practice teaching in the laboratory school of the College and in cooperating public and private schools, with mentoring from professional teachers. The curriculum includes classroom teaching under supervision of a supervising teacher and/or cooperating teacher.
