Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics

The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics at the University of Santo Tomas is a four-year program that prepares students for the art and science of teaching. It builds knowledge in pedagogy, including foundations of education, principles of teaching, facilitating learning, curriculum development, child and adolescent psychology, assessment of student learning, educational technology and instructional materials preparation, and classroom management. Students also develop disciplinal expertise through their specialization in Mathematics.

The program culminates in an intensive practice teaching experience in the laboratory school of the College and in cooperating public and private schools, with active mentoring from professional teachers. The curriculum includes courses such as The Teaching Profession, Mathematics in the Modern World, The Child and Adolescent Learners and Learning Principles, Mathematics of Investments, Trigonometry, Plane and Solid Geometry, and Logic and Set Theory, along with technology and assessment-focused education courses and required supporting subjects.
