Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Religious and Values Education

The Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in Religious and Values Education, is a four-year program offered by the College of Education – Department of Secondary Education. It prepares students for the art and science of teaching by building know-how in pedagogy, including foundations of education, principles of teaching, facilitating learning, curriculum development, child and adolescent psychology, assessment of student learning, educational technology, instructional materials preparation, and classroom management. Students also develop disciplinal expertise in Religious and Values Education.

The program culminates in an intensive one-year practice teaching in the laboratory school of the College and in cooperating public and private schools, with active mentoring from professional teachers. The curriculum includes courses such as The Teaching Profession, The Child and Adolescent Learners and Learning Principles, Facilitating Learner-Centered Teaching, Foundation of Special and Inclusive Education, and Assessment in Learning 1, plus guidance and values-related courses. Instruction follows a multi-term schedule with first and second terms, and a special term of none shown for the years listed.
