KDU Global – IUCEA Scholarship

The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) offers the KDU Global – IUCEA Undergraduate Full and Partial Scholarships with Kyungdong University Global as the university partner. The purpose is to provide undergraduate scholarship opportunities for students from EAC member countries. The programmes covered are undergraduate degrees in English Track across specified disciplines.

• Citizen and resident of an East African Community partner state: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, or the Federal Republic of Somalia.
• Completion of the pre-university level of education in the home country in the years stated in the call (specified in the entry requirements section).
• Minimum academic requirement: excellent academic performance records with a minimum of a B in all mathematics and English modules.
• English Proficiency Certificate required for both admission and visa procedure: IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 71 or higher.
• Age limit: no older than 22 years of age.
• Financial documentation requirement differs by scholarship type (bank statement and balance certificate for a sponsor):
• Full Scholarships: 6-month bank statement and a bank balance certificate showing over USD 5000; sponsor must be the applicant’s parents or the applicant themselves; if parents are deceased, biological siblings can serve as sponsors; no other account will be accepted.
• Partial Scholarships: 6-month bank statement and a bank balance certificate showing over USD 16000; sponsor must be the applicant’s parents or the applicant themselves; if parents are deceased, biological siblings can serve as sponsors.
• Additional English test exclusions: EFSET, Duolingo, and PTE are not accepted.

• Full Scholarships: limited number of seats.
• Full tuition fee of $8,000 per year for up to 4 years (by KDU Global).
• Dormitory fee of $4,400 for the first two years (by KDU Global).
• Return air ticket at the beginning and the end of four years (by IUCEA).
• Health insurance support every month for 4 years (by IUCEA).
• Application processing and handling fee of $250 after selection (by IUCEA).
• Partial Scholarships: students/parents provide personal expenses including accommodation, airfare, application fee, health insurance, etc., and KDU Global waives tuition fees.
• First semester: waiver of full tuition fee of $4,000 for the first semester (by KDU Global), subject to compliance with KDU Global internal rules and regulations.
• Second semester onwards: scholarship is based on tuition fee only and depends on academic performance at KDU Global.
• 100% scholarship for an average mark of 95 or above (student pays $0 stated only as tuition-covered amount).
• 70% scholarship for an average mark of 90–94: student pays $1200.
• 50% scholarship for an average mark of 80–89: student pays $2000.
• 30% scholarship for an average mark of 75–79: student pays $2800.

1. Submit the electronic application through the complete electronic form link provided in the call.
2. Prepare hard copies for initial assessment and include the following items: Application Form & Student Code of Conduct; Academic Transcript & Certificate of Graduation; a Passport Copy; and an IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 71 or higher report (EFSET, Duolingo, and PTE are not accepted).
3. Combine all initial assessment documents into one PDF file.
4. Submit the one PDF to IUCEA by the deadline using the stated submission to IUCEA Office in Kampala, Uganda, and include the required contact emails for initial assessment: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected].
5. After Stage I preliminary evaluation, attend Stage II as required: KDU Global conducts an individual assessment (interview) and confirms final selections; candidates might be required to submit additional documents and designated forms if deemed necessary.
6. In the application, state whether you wish to be considered for both full and partial scholarships.
7. If selected, submit the final admission documents to KDU Global as listed in KDU Global’s admission documents guidance after receiving additional guidelines.
