Seoul National University President Fellowship

The SNU President Fellowship Program (SPF) is a scholarship program launched to provide opportunities for teaching or instructional staff members of universities in developing countries to pursue PhD degrees at Seoul National University.

Eligible applicants include a teaching or instructional staff member of a major university in a developing country without a PhD degree who holds a master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; applicants must also meet employment and role conditions. The programme also includes newly admitted students to SNU as PhD students for the spring intake.

Selection is based on meeting all listed eligibility requirements. For teaching/instructional staff, the programme recognizes applicants if they meet at least one employment-related condition (teaching an academic course or conducting academic research, including an expected master’s degree holder employed for at least six months). Applicants must be able to prove their currently employed position using the specified titles or equivalent proof.

The fellowship provides full tuition fee for six semesters. It also includes a monthly stipend of KRW 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 and other supports including a round-trip economy airfare, Korean language training during regular semesters as an evening class, national health insurance coverage, and child care support.

• Teaching/instructional staff pathway: Must be a teaching or instructional staff member of a major university in a developing country without a PhD degree and must hold a master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• The applicant must meet at least one recognized condition: (a) employed to teach an academic course or to conduct academic research; or (b) an expected master’s degree holder who has been employed for at least six months to teach an academic course or to conduct academic research.
• The applicant must be able to prove currently employed university position in one of the listed roles: Professor; Associate Professor; Assistant Professor; Research Professor; Lecturer; Instructor; Teaching Assistant; Research Assistant. The programme may recognize other positions/ranks if the applicant’s certificate shows they qualify for conditions.
• New PhD student pathway: Must be a newly admitted student to Seoul National University as a PhD student for the spring intake.
• The applicant must apply during the admission application period using the required online application process and must check the ‘Application for Scholarship’ box during admission application.

1. Submit the online SPF application through the Seoul National University Office of Admissions website during the admission application period.
2. During the admission application, check the ‘Application for Scholarship’ box.
