The Bachelor of Performing Arts (Honours) in Kandyan Dance at the University of the Visual & Performing Arts focuses on Kandyan Dance with study across dance science, research, theory, classical foundation and practice, and traditional performance traditions. Students study modules such as Dance Science, Principles of Research, Kandyan Dance: Theoretical Approach, and Creative Choreography in Kandyan Dance: Principles and Practice, along with practice-based study of Kandyan dance and related traditions.
Learning includes core modules delivered through theoretical and practice components, marked with course status codes such as T, P, T/P, and P Core (M). The structure includes core modules at each level, plus auxiliary and optional English and language modules (English for General & Academic Purposes and Tamil Language) and digital/technology modules. At the final level, students complete Industry-Based Internship and a Research Project.
