The Bachelor of Visual Arts Special Textile Wearable Arts at the University of the Visual & Performing Arts is focused on textile design and wearable art. Students study drawing, textile design and museum studies, fashion design, and project and portfolio development. The course also includes design principles and elements, coloration and finishing of textiles, fiber art, and studio work for wearable art across leather and other media.
Learning is organised across levels with studio modules, workshops, and research. Across the program, students take life drawing, workshop and field studies, computer-based design for fashion, and design and technology modules such as textile & fashion technology. Higher levels include history of textile & wearable arts, production & marketing, computer for textile & wearable art iii, research methodology, and a dissertation. Electives are included at multiple levels.
