BA Hons Interior Design

The BA (Hons) Interior Design at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIT) is delivered with Liverpool John Moores University’s BA (Hons) Interior Design at SLIT School of Architecture. Students work on authentic architectural projects with input from practicing architects and interior design specialists in a studio setting with industry-standard technical facilities. The programme includes modules such as History of Interior Design I (Western & Asian Traditions), Architectural Evaluation, Design Theory I, and Design 1- Heritage Canvas.

Learning is structured across three years. The first year focuses on fundamentals of interior design, creative thinking, and visual communication within cultural and environmental contexts. The second year builds design concepts, materials, sustainability, and client-focused studio projects. In the third year, students complete independent, research-driven projects and professional practice. Coursework includes design projects and digital tools for 2D drafting and 3D modelling, plus research and communication modules.

Local A/Ls: Minimum of 3 "S" passes in any stream AND a “C” pass for O/L English & Mathematics AND passthe special aptitude test conducted by the School of Architecture. For Interior Design, O/L Mathematics will not be considered.

Cambridge/Edexcel A/Ls: Minimum of 3 "D" passes in any stream AND a “C” pass for O/L English & Mathematics AND passthe special aptitude test conducted by the School of Architecture. For Interior Design, O/L Mathematics will not be considered.

Applicants who have successfully completed the SLIIT Foundation Programme are eligible for direct enrolment into the programme. Applicants who have completed foundation programmes from other institutions may be considered subject to approval by the Institute Senate. In certain cases, applicants may be required to attend an interview or present a portfolio of work.

All applicants are required to pass the Aptitude Test conducted by the School of Architecture, SLIIT.
