Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours Degree Programme

The Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours Degree Programme is an undergraduate Pharmacy programme conducted by the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences, at The Open University of Sri Lanka. It leads to the Degree in Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharmHons). The programme focuses on Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Clinical Pharmacy, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, and Pharmaceutics.

The programme is delivered through open and distance learning methodologies. It is designed to develop a professional pharmacist with knowledge, favorable attitudes, and skills in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences for the healthcare sector and relevant academic and research fields. It also aims to develop motivated, self-directed learners who can contribute efficiently and effectively to their profession and workplace while maintaining international standards.

• Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy
• Pharmaceutics

• Minimum of three (03) Pass grades in one sitting in the Science stream, at the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) Advanced Level Examination, Sri Lanka
• AND Minimum Credit pass (C) in Chemistry AND G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination, Sri Lanka
• AND Minimum Simple pass (S) for English at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, Sri Lanka
• OR An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate
• AND Be eligible for admission based on the performance at a test and/or an interview conducted for the purpose of admission
