Bachelor of Management Studies Honours

The Bachelor of Management Studies Honours at the Open University of Sri Lanka is an undergraduate programme in the discipline of Management. The aim is to prepare graduates to apply management knowledge to real-world situations while covering fundamental concepts and contemporary issues in management science. The programme focuses on teamwork, inventiveness, attention to detail, and problem-solving, with an emphasis on meeting business objectives.

Admission includes an age requirement of completing 18 years by the date of registration, plus academic qualifications or specified Open University of Sri Lanka study credits. Applicants other than one stated category take a common selection test run by the Faculty of Management Studies. The selection test includes Aptitude Test I (Arithmetic Skills), Aptitude Test II (Reasoning), and Professional Communication for Managers. The degree is conducted by the Faculty of Management Studies.

A person seeking admission for the degree programme, should complete 18 years of age by the date of the registration and shall be required to have;

• Any three passes in one and same sitting at the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E) Advanced Level Examination, Sri Lanka, or,
• Successfully completed any Foundation programme adding up to 60 credits at Level 1 and Level 2 offered by the Open University of Sri Lanka, or,
• Successfully completed an advanced certificate programme having 30 SLQF credits at SLQF Level 2 offered by the Faculty of Management Studies of OUSL, or,
• Successfully completed an advanced certificate programme of OUSL having 30 SLQF credits at SLQF Level 2, or,
• An equivalent or higher academic or professional qualification acceptable to the Senate

Other than the applicants in the category ‘c’ above will be subjected to a selection test administered by the Faculty of Management Studies if necessary. The selection test comprises with three main parts: Aptitude Test I – Arithmetic Skills; Aptitude Test II – Reasoning; Professional Communication for Managers.
