Master of Arts in Development Studies and Public Policy

The Master of Arts in Development Studies and Public Policy at the Open University of Sri Lanka is designed to build knowledge, skills, and research capacity in development and public policy. It uses an integrative social sciences approach and supports graduates from diverse academic disciplines to work in the development sector at national and international levels. The discipline areas include Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Communication, History, English Language, and IT/software skills.

The programme runs for 2 years and is offered in English medium. It includes thirteen regular courses and one Continuing Education course delivered across 4 semesters. Course content is arranged in modules that address Historical, Theoretical, and Thematic issues related to development. The qualification includes 45 credits from regular courses, 3 credits from Continuing Education courses, and 15 credits from research work.

• A Degree from a recognized university,

or

• Secured an equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the OUSL Senate with at least one (01) year of work experience in planning, administration & implementation of development projects

AND

• Through an interview held by the Department of Social Studies whenever the need arises
