Master of Arts in Education

The Master of Arts in Education is a 60 credits postgraduate programme in Education. It has two levels: Level 9 coursework, and Level 10 with two taught courses and a research dissertation. The programme aims to expand opportunities for postgraduate study in Education for people already serving in education, and to develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills for leadership, consulting, and resource work in education.

The programme is organised to build capacity development in professional reflection, judgment, decision-making, and practice to address issues in the field of education. It also aims to promote research in Education through the Level 10 research dissertation. The degree is conducted by the Department of Secondary and Tertiary, Faculty of Education.

Admission Requirements for Level 10:

• Master of Education degree with coursework (SLQF 9) with a minimum GPA of 3.00 from the Open University of Sri Lanka or any other university recognized by the UGC, or
• An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate.
