Master of Education in Special Needs Education Degree Programme

The Master of Education in Special Needs Education Degree Programme at the Open University of Sri Lanka is a Level 10 study programme focused on Special Needs Education and Inclusive Education. It aims to expand opportunities for postgraduate studies for people already serving in education, and to develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills for leadership, consultancy, and resource roles in special needs education.

The programme is delivered through the distance mode and is a 66 credit programme with a two-year duration. Printed texts are not provided; instead, reading lists and handouts relevant to each course of study are distributed as needed, and students are expected to engage in self-study.

• A pass in the Post Graduate Diploma in Special Needs Education from the OUSL or any other recognized university, or
• A pass in the Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the OUSL or any other recognized university, or
• A pass with a minimum GPA 3.0 in Bachelor of Education degree from the OUSL or any other recognized university, or
• An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate.
