Master of Science in Nursing Msc N Degree

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSc N) at the Open University of Sri Lanka is a SLQF Level 10 post graduate degree programme for advancing nursing practice. Students study theoretical foundations of advanced nursing practice, health care management, health policy from local to global, and ethical and legal aspects in nursing. The programme also includes quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistics for evidence based nursing practice, and health research management to build research skills.

The minimum duration is two academic years with a total of 60 credits. There is an exit point at SLQF Level 9 for a Master of Nursing (MN) with a minimum of one academic year and 30 credits. The course includes an independent study component and a dissertation. Admission is based on a selection test and/or an interview.

The candidate should have one of the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree of SLQF Level 5 in Nursing,
• A qualification of SLQF Level 6 or above in Nursing,
• An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate,

Based on the selection test and/ or an interview
