The Master of Science in Structural Engineering at the Open University of Sri Lanka trains Civil Engineers to apply technical understanding of systems in engineering, design, and implementation. The curriculum focuses on structural engineering and also draws on resources from Structural Engineering, Soil Engineering, and Materials Engineering.
The programme runs for 4 Semesters over a total duration of 2 years. It includes core study in advanced structural mechanics, advanced design of concrete structures, high rise building design, advanced design of steel and composite structures, geotechnical design and soil structure interaction, project management, and a sustainable built environment. A research thesis is included, with additional options such as bridge design, computer aided finite element applications, seismic design, high performance concrete, and independent study.
