Master of Teacher Education Mte

The Master of Teacher Education (MTE) at the Open University of Sri Lanka is designed to develop professional competencies and practices among teacher educators. The program focuses on teaching and learning strategies, educational technologies in teaching and learning, designing and evaluating curricular activities, and management and leadership in educational activities.

The program includes six regular courses and a portfolio project. Learning is built around authentic learning scenarios, and there will be no final written examination in any regular courses. The minimum duration is one year, consisting of two semesters, and essential readings, additional readings, and multimedia resources support learning.

Admission requires one of the following: obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized University, or obtained a bachelor’s degree and the Postgraduate Diploma in Education from a recognized University, or secured any equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate.

Applicants should be serving at present as one of the following: i. Academic staff member of a recognized University, or ii. Lecturer of a National College of Education, or iii. Lecturer of a Teacher Training Collage, or iv. Officer engaged in Teacher Education in the National Institute of Education, or v. Principal of a Government/Government Approved school (Private/International) or vi. In-Service Advisor of a Teaching Centre/Ministry of Education/ A Provincial Ministry of Education.

Selection of candidates will be done either by a written test or an interview.

All applicants should have a good command in English, irrespective of the Medium.
