The Bachelor in Life Sciences – Bioanalytics and Cell Biology at FHNW focuses on bioanalytics and cell biology within the life sciences. Students develop skills for modern analytical, molecular, and cell-biological techniques such as protein analyses, PCR, and fluorescence microscopy, and apply them in practice. The program also supports focused study areas including microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, or bioanalytics.
Teaching is delivered in person. Students work in the laboratory from the first semester and combine theory with practice. The program includes work in areas linked to data science and automation, and it offers contact with professionals from industry and research during lectures. An international stay is possible. The degree awarded is a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, with the study direction Bioanalytics and Cell Biology.
Graduates can develop, analyze, and conduct bioassays and draw evidence-based conclusions. They can culture microorganisms and cells under controlled conditions and support alternatives to animal testing in research. They can also apply molecular-biological, bioanalytical, and diagnostic methods for medical questions, and carry out cell and tissue engineering tasks related to drug development questions.
