The Bachelor in Life Sciences (Chemical Engineering) at the University of Applied Sciences Aargau (FHNW) trains you to combine chemistry, physics, and mathematics with engineering applications. You develop knowledge in inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry and in process engineering, with practice built in through projects and laboratory work. You also choose modules from the fourth semester to build your personal profile, including options related to digitisation and automation.
Teaching uses in-person learning at FHNW Campus Muttenz, with modern labs and a Process Technology Center (PTC). The programme includes practical work throughout the degree, with more than one third of the study consisting of laboratory practice, industry projects, and research involvement. You complete a placement semester in industry or research and write your Bachelor thesis, which can also be completed internationally. The programme leads to a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, with the Chemical Engineering specialisation.
