The Bachelor in Life Sciences – Chemical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Solothurn Northwestern Switzerland leads to a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences with the focus Chemical Engineering. The program combines chemistry, physics, and mathematics with engineering applications, and it includes inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry as well as process engineering.
Teaching is delivered in person. Students work on practical projects in the Process Technology Center (PTC) and in modern equipped laboratories. More than one third of the study content includes laboratory practice, industry projects, and research involvement. From the fourth semester, students choose modules to build an individual profile, such as digitalization and automation.
The program includes a practical placement semester in industry or research and a bachelor’s thesis, which can also be completed internationally. It prepares graduates for roles in chemical development and production, pharmaceutical or food industry, research institutes, regulatory and environmental organizations, and approval and safety authorities.
