The Master in Life Sciences – Biotechnology (Master of Science in Life Sciences) at University of Applied Sciences Basel (FHNW) develops expertise for biotechnological processes, new medicines, and sustainable production processes. The programme deepens scientific knowledge and methodological skills through advanced study in biopharmaceutical products, continuous bioprocesses, process analytics and automation, formulation and analytics of biologics, and regulatory requirements. You also select electives from related fields such as Analytical Chemistry, Bioanalytics, Applied Cell Biology, or Pharma Technology.
Study is available in full-time or part-time/work-study modes, with learning on an online and onsite basis. The programme is research-based and application-oriented, with practical training in laboratories and work on real research and development projects. You complete 90 ECTS credits and can earn a total of 50 ECTS credits within the Biotechnology specialisation. It includes module groups such as Biotechnology, Electives, Cluster-specific, Core skills, and a Thesis. International options include a double degree at a partner university and a Master’s thesis abroad.
