The Master in Life Sciences – Analytical Chemistry (Master of Science in Life Sciences) at FHNW is designed to help you understand biological systems at the molecular level and apply modern analytical methods. The programme focuses on investigating, identifying, and characterising metabolites, biomarkers, proteins, formulations, and biological tissues, with core work in mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy.
Teaching language is English. Study is available as full-time for 3 semesters or as part-time/work-study for 6 semesters. Learning is offered onsite and online. The programme includes an eight-month master thesis, often carried out in collaboration with industry partners, and you can choose modules from related fields such as Organic Chemistry, Bioanalytics, Biotechnology, or Pharma Technology.
There are options for international study, including an exchange semester abroad and doing your thesis at one of the partner universities. The programme prepares you for roles in research and industry, including work in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, research and development laboratories, regulatory authorities and certification bodies, and food and environmental analysis.
