Bachelor of Midwifery Science Extension

The Bachelor of Midwifery Science (Extension) at Mountains of the Moon University is an undergraduate programme with a programme code of BMSE. It requires preparation for study that includes midwifery and obstetrics, as applicants complete an initial oral interview and a written entry examination in Midwifery and Obstetrics.

The programme runs on a full-time study time and has a duration listed as 3 Years. The intake is August. Admission includes a placement period for international students during the week and inter-semester in Uganda, and inter-semester practicums for Ugandan students with employer study leave arrangements.

• A Diploma in Midwifery or Comprehensive Nursing from a recognized tertiary institution.
• A practicing license with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council or relevant professional body. International students will be required to seek temporary registration with Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
• At least two (2) years working experience within the field of maternal and newborn health.
• Pass an initial Oral interview and written entry examination in Midwifery and Obstetrics
• Ugandans should be practicing in the field of maternal and newborn health with an employer willing to employ them in the clinical capacity from Monday to Thursday. The employer will also need to be required to allow the student take study leave to undertake inter-semester practicums.
• International students should be prepared to undertake the placement period during the week and inter-semester in Uganda.
