Bachelor of Nursing Science

The Bachelor of Nursing Science (course code: BNS) is offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. The program focuses on nursing education built around science subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.

The degree has a duration of 4 years and is delivered full-time. Entry routes include direct entry and diploma entry. Applicants for diploma entry may be Registered Nurses, Midwives, Comprehensive Nurses, Psychiatric Nurses, or Paediatric Nurses, and must meet the registration requirement with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.

Direct Entry

Two principal passes in Biology and Chemistry and at least Subsidiary Pass in either Physics or Mathematics

Diploma Entry

Registered Nurses or Midwives or Comprehensive Nurses or Psychiatric Nurses or Paediatric Nurses

Registered or eligible for registration with Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council

Should have passed science subjects especially Mathematics and Chemistry at ‘O’level

Sit and pass an entrance examination in Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology and General Paper
