Bachelor of Agricultural Science Honours Degree Crop Science

Students take the Bachelor of Agricultural Science Honours Degree (Crop Science) at Bindura University of Science Education. The Crop Science field covers plant pathology, plant biology, plant physiology, crop production, and soil management. The programme aims to expand knowledge in crop science and develop information and technologies for agronomic practice.

The programme is organised into Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV. It includes introductory units such as agricultural economics, statistics for agriculture, computer science, soil science, and plant science, then advances to modules like crop physiology, seed science and technology, plant breeding and genetics, and weed science. Part III includes a research project and an attachment. Part IV includes options focused on plant protection, agronomy, irrigation and water management, and post-harvest crop management.

All applicants have to meet the following minimum requirements for admission prescribed under the general regulations (i.e.):

• have obtained at least five Ordinary Level subject passes including English Language and Mathematics passed with a grade C or better
• Passes at Advanced Level in at least two subjects as follows:
• Category 1: Any two of the following, Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics or Food Science.
• Category 2: Either Mathematics or Geography in addition to any one subject in Category 1
