The Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Animal Health and Production Extension (BScHAHPE) focuses on animal health factors affecting the livestock industry and approaches to address animal health challenges. Students study animal production and disease-related areas, including veterinary diagnostics and pharmacology, veterinary epidemiology, principles of animal health and production, and animal welfare. The programme also includes knowledge for extension, information dissemination, and communication in the livestock health sector.
Teaching and learning are organised across four years with Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV. Industrial Attachment is done in Part III. Practical agricultural experience includes Agricultural Practice (AGP 103) with practicals, field visits, and assignments, and Industrial Attachment (AGP 301) with an attachment to a relevant organization/institution for at least eight months, producing a report at the end.
