Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Forestry and Environmental Management

The Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Forestry and Environmental Management at Bindura University of Science Education covers ecosystems, soil and plant science, pollution, water and atmospheric science, wildlife resources, and introductions to computer science and statistics. It also includes social anthropology and economics, with chemistry and citizenship education.

The programme is structured in parts. Part II includes research methods, land management and conservation, land evaluation, natural resources and environmental law, environmental systems and computing, environmental botany, plant physiology, GIS and remote sensing, environmental management systems, and multiple forest modules. Part III includes a research project and attachment. Part IV adds curriculum development, organizational behaviour, agroforestry, environmental hydrology and hydrogeology, soil fertility and plant nutrition, land reclamation and revegetation, fire ecology, environmental policy, and further forest economics, protection, resources management, social forestry, and arboriculture.

All applicants have to meet the following minimum requirements for admission prescribed under the general regulations (i.e):

• Have obtained at least five Ordinary Level subject passes including English Language and Mathematics passed with a grade C or better
• At least 2 of the following ‘A’ level subjects: Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Mathematics and Physics
