Bachelor of Science Honours in Counselling

The Bachelor of Science Honours in Counselling at Africa University is an undergraduate, full-time programme in the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences. The programme is multidisciplinary and borrows selected courses from Psychology and Sociology. Students study taught courses such as Introduction to Counselling, Theories and Practice in Counselling, and Counselling Skills and Techniques, as well as ethics, communication, and research-related modules. Students also carry out independent research under supervision.

Students complete a structure that includes 3 years of taught courses across 6 semesters, followed by 2 semesters of internship. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for graduation. The programme is taught at the Main Campus and includes internship and a Research Project in the curriculum.

• At least 2 good A level passes with 2 points or better in relevant subject areas.
• A minimum of 5 O levels with grade “C” or better including Mathematics and English.
• Special Entry: Candidates will be considered for mature entry under the following conditions: Applicants must be at least 25 years or above at the time of application; Applicants must have obtained 5 O level subjects including English and Maths; Work/Practical experience in a related field will be an added advantage.

• Counsellors in organizations that include the schools, hospitals, NGOs and Church.
• Programme managers and officers in organizations that deal with vulnerable populations.
