Bachelor of Science Honours with Education in Business Commerce

Africa University offers a Bachelor of Science with Education in Business/Commerce Honours programme (BScEd (Hons)). It prepares students to teach Business or Commerce courses at the secondary school level. Students take specified Business courses and education-focused units, including Sociology of Education, Educational Psychology, Philosophy of Education, and Guidance and Counselling, alongside Foundations of Accounting, Economics Principles, and Mathematics for Business.

The programme is delivered full time at the Main Campus. It includes seven semesters of coursework plus an additional semester of teaching practice. Teaching practice is listed as a 60-credit module, and the curriculum also includes instructional methods, content methods of teaching, instructional technology, and research methods.

To register for the Bachelor of Science with Education in Business Studies Honours Programme, a candidate must satisfy the usual entry requirements for an undergraduate degree as stipulated in the University registration rules. English and Mathematics (variable) at O’ Level are compulsory subjects and should normally have been obtained with a minimum grade “C” or equivalent (for non-English speaking countries). In addition to the above, admission to the Bachelor of Science with Education in Business Studies Honours Programme of study requires at least two A’ level passes commercial subjects.

Special Entry: Notwithstanding the above, candidates with 5 ‘O’ Level passes including English Language and Mathematics with a minimum “C” grade and a relevant three-year Diploma in Education from a recognized and accredited institution may be granted admission with one-year exemption.
