Bachelor of Social Sciences Honours in Psychology

The Bachelor of Social Sciences Honours in Psychology at Africa University is an undergraduate programme in the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences within the College of Social Sciences, Theology, Humanities and Education. Students complete core introductory, theoretical, and methodological courses drawn from the programme’s thematic areas, and they also take University-wide courses including HIT 100 Introduction to Information Technology, HCS101 Communication Skills 1, HFR111 French for Beginners 1, HPO111 Portuguese for Beginners 1, HAS100 Introduction to African Studies, HCS102 Communication Skills 2, HFR112 French for Beginners II, HPO112 Portuguese for Beginners II, and TEV200 Ethics and Christian Values.

The programme runs for eight semesters and is delivered on the Main Campus in full-time learning mode. Satisfactory completion of the core courses is a condition for the award of the degree. Core requirements include HSA 201–206, HSA 301, HSA 303 and HSA 302, HSA 408, HSA 320, HSA 401, HSA 419, HSA 402, and HAS 403, including an internship, field research, data analysis, and a sociology honours research project.

Normal Entry

• At least two GCE Advanced level passes or equivalent.
• 5 ‘O’ level passes at grade “C” or better including English Language and Mathematics.

A student must have attained a cumulative grade point average [CGPA] of at least 3.20 to be eligible for the honours programme.
