Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound

The Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound at Harare Institute of Technology is designed to prepare students to work independently in an ultrasound department with responsibility and accountability over the diagnostic process. Students study ultrasound Physics and Practical Application, covering the pelvic region, abdomen, small parts, and vascular technology, including paediatric ultrasound and musculoskeletal systems.

Students are expected to scan, interpret results, and write reports that can be used by physicians in patient management. The programme also focuses on interpreting ultrasound request forms and providing the relevant examination. Study runs for 18 months full time across three semesters, with multiple levels and fifteen-week levels including examination time.

• Practical Application

Diploma in Radiography, Bachelor of Technology Honours Radiography, Bachelor of Science Honours Radiography or any other equivalent professional qualification.

• Minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience in the field of Radiography.
• Three reference letters including one from employment supervisor.
• Prior studies in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology.
