The Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology (MCLIP) at Midlands State University focuses on the diagnosis, analysis, and clinical therapy of behavioural pathologies and psychological disorders. Students study psychopathology, clinical neuropsychology, psychotherapeutic assessments and interventions, and clinical health psychology, alongside legal and ethical issues. The programme also includes research methods and statistics in clinical psychology.
The programme follows an orientation described as the scientific-practitioner paradigm and includes a practical approach meant to be relevant on the ground. Students complete clinical placements and associated practicum activities. Clinical Placement 1 includes observing clinical psychologists, documenting cases, and attending practicum classes once every fortnight for a placement schedule described as 15 hours per week for 15 weeks at an approved site. A Clinical Project Planning and Management module prepares students for managing clinical projects.
Graduates are prepared for clinical placement and employment in mental health institutions and for further studies in clinical psychology.
