The Bachelor of Education Dual Honours Degree in Humanities at Midlands State University prepares pre-service teachers to teach two humanities subjects up to “A ’Level”: English; Family and Religious Studies; History, Heritage Studies; Indigenous Languages; Theatre Arts; Music and Dance. The programme includes training for humanities education teachers, with an orientation focused on analysing humanities learning area problems and designing strategies to address them.

Students study common modules across levels and complete teaching practice components that include a Clinical Teaching Practice Report, a Teaching Practice Terminal Report, School-Based Teaching Practice Assessment, and Teaching Practice Exit Competencies. The programme also includes research training and a Research Project, plus modules such as School Curriculum and Innovation, Assessment and Evaluation Techniques, and Research Methods and Statistics.

Normal Entry: To be admitted, an applicant should have passed two ‘A’ levels in any two of the following subject areas: English; Family and Religious Studies; History, Heritage Studies; Indigenous Languages; Theatre Arts; Music and Dance. In addition, the applicant should have passed 5 ‘O’ Levels that should include English Language. Equivalent qualifications from other institutions will be considered.
