Bachelor of Education Degree in Early Childhood Development Ecd

The Bachelor of Education Degree in Early Childhood Development (ECD) prepares students to handle ECD children from diverse contexts and needs. The programme aims to develop theoretical and practical knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values. Students focus on child development processes from conception through to 8 years, and apply psychological, sociological, and philosophical knowledge and skills to practice.

Students undertake a minimum total of twenty-eight courses and complete a project on an approved ECD problem (a project is worth two courses). The programme is offered on a semesterised basis and is completed on a full-time basis. Assessment for each course includes course work (30%) and a final examination (70%), with research methods needed to register for the project.

A minimum of 2 A’ level subjects for subjects below 25 years of age. 5 O’ Level subjects including English and Mathematics for students aged 25 years and above. 4 O’ Level subjects for students aged 40 years and above since they have Acquired Prior Learning (APL). Diploma in Education holders will be exempted from Professional Studies and one year Teaching Practice (T.P.).
