Master of Education Degree in Agriculture and Applied Environmental Science

The Master of Education Degree in Agriculture and Applied Environmental Science prepares students to increase their knowledge base in agriculture education and to equip practitioners with practical, theoretical, and creative skills. It aims to prepare professionals to teach Agriculture at undergraduate level and to produce qualified personnel for educational institutions, government departments, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

The programme has an actual credit load of 324 and includes Level 1 and Level 2 modules across two semesters, plus a dissertation. Students study Advanced Information Communication Technology in Education, Advanced Research Methods and Statistics, Climate Change and Land Use, Sustainable Crop Production, Land Reform and Agribusiness, Gender Discourse in Agriculture Education, Sustainable Animal Production, Food and Nutrition Security, Water Management and Governance, Financial Management in Educational Institutions, Agroecology, and Trends in Agriculture Education.

Normal Entry: To be eligible for the programme, an applicant must normally have:

• a B.Ed degree in agriculture or approved equivalent from any recognised university in the appropriate subject area.
• a BSc degree in agriculture and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education or approved equivalent from any recognised university.
