The Master of Arts Degree in Development Practice (AH17) at Midlands State University prepares professionals for careers in sustainable development. The programme uses a strategic blend of theory and practice, with an emphasis on engagement with real development challenges in local and global settings. Students learn to undertake inquiry and take action, and to develop the technical skills needed to design and manage viable development programmes.
Teaching is offered on a face-to-face basis, and online lectures are also used. The programme is structured on a module basis and includes a project paper submitted in partial fulfilment of programme requirements. Students complete practicums aligned with module content, including research activities such as baseline surveys and participatory research approaches.
