The Master of Arts Degree in Film, Television and Digital Technologies (AH24) at Midlands State University is designed to equip students with academic and practical skills for the media industry, and for research and academic studies. Students develop conceptual, technical, analytical, critical, managerial, and entrepreneurial skills through areas of study that include theories of film, television and digital technology; communication and the media; media and cultural studies; media and society studies; practical media production; and communication.
The programme is organised across Level 1 Semester 1, Level 1 Semester 2, and Level 2 Semester 1. It includes a research-focused set of taught modules such as Film and Television Theory, Research Methods for Screen Media, and Visual Literacy and Reception Analysis, alongside practical modules including Writing for Screen Media, Directing for Film and Television, Documentary Production, and Digital Technologies & Screen Cultures. Level 2 includes a Dissertation (MFTDT 831) and Critical Media Theory (MFTDT 832).
