The Master of Arts Degree in Forensic Archaeology at Midlands State University develops practical and adaptable graduates skilled in the location, recovery, recording, and interpretation of human remains in both archaeological and forensic (recent) contexts. It applies archaeological skills to forensic investigations, with attention to scientific, technical, ethical, legal, and regulatory dimensions, plus communication with other professionals and the public.
Teaching and learning use lectures, tutorials, laboratory classes, seminars, group work, site visits, excavations, a research project, and individual independent study. The degree consists of 11 modules, with each taught module worth 20 credits and a dissertation worth 90 credits. Students must register for all modules offered in each semester and pass all modules, including the dissertation, to reach at least 290 credits.
