The Master of Arts Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation (AH18) at Midlands State University is designed to train development planners, strategists, and managers with advanced knowledge and skills in monitoring and evaluation. Students study indicators and measurement, public policy and policy evaluation, advanced data collection methods, advanced statistics, and planning and management for monitoring and evaluation. The course also covers risk management, monitoring and evaluation in the public sector, and environmental and social impact assessments.
The programme is offered on a module basis, with a dissertation forming part of the fulfilment requirements. It runs over an 18-month period on a Block Release and Weekend School Programme basis. Teaching is offered largely on a contract basis, and online lectures are used. Students complete practical exercises aligned to module content, and programme work culminates with an evaluation report at Level 2 Semester 1.
