Master of Science Degree in Crop Protection Mcpr

The Master of Science Degree in Crop Protection (MCPR) at Midlands State University helps graduates broaden knowledge in crop protection. The emphasis is on the scientific aspects of Biology, Ecology and Management of Plant Pathogen, Insects Pest, Weeds and Nematodes; Pesticide Science; Biotechnological Techniques; Climatology and Environmental Issues; and Experimental Design and Analysis.

Programme structure includes Level I modules covering advanced experimental design and analysis, advanced weed biology and ecology, advanced bacteriology, virology and nematology, advanced mycology and disease epidemiology, advanced weed management, advanced insect pest ecology and biology, and advanced pesticide science and insect pest management. Students choose one module in Level I from Agro-Climatology and Environmental Issues or Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness Management, then complete a Level II dissertation carried out individually under guided supervision.

To be eligible for the programme, a candidate must normally be a holder of a first degree with an upper second (2.1) class or better in Crop Protection, Agronomy, Crop Science, Horticulture or related fields from a recognized University.
