The Master of Science Degree in Demography and Population Studies (MDPS) at Midlands State University studies how human populations change and focuses on demographic events such as birth, marriage, divorce, health, migration, and death. The programme covers demographic techniques, population and development, mortality and epidemiology, demography and globalization, and it applies theories and case material to broader social and demographic dynamics.
MDPS is delivered as an 18-month programme with level modules across semesters, including Demographic Techniques I and II, Demographic Theories, Migration, Mortality, Reproductive Health, and research modules in advanced qualitative and advanced quantitative research. Students also complete a dissertation. Elective options include Demography and Environmental Issues, Theories, Concepts and Principles of Migration and Demography, Demographic Change, Ageing and Globalization, and Population and Development.
