Anglophone Postcolonial Studies

Anglophone Postcolonial Studies is a Bachelor program taught at Universität Potsdam, Germany. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Universität Potsdam offers the Bachelor of Arts Anglophone Postcolonial Studies (taught in English). The programme examines literary, cultural, historical, and media phenomena of the English-speaking world from a non-eurocentric perspective. Students focus on the problem complex of (post)colonial past, present, and future, and learn multiperspective analysis. The course aims to build literature- and cultural studies skills and transcultural competences (“Transcultural Literacy”).

The bachelor programme is modular. It includes Pflichtmodule and Wahlpflichtbereiche, with defined credit points and study-and-examination achievements within each module. The programme is complemented by practice-oriented elements such as project work, science communication, and media work. A Praktikum Anglophone Postcolonial Studies is included, and an Outreach Projekt Anglophone Postcolonial Studies supports the practical focus.

The minimum requirements for admission in Anglophone Postcolonial Studies at Universität Potsdam for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Universität Potsdam.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Universität Potsdam as pre-requiste for admission in Anglophone Postcolonial Studies.

For the Bachelorstudium at the Universität Potsdam, the proof of university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) is required. Bewerber*innen must also prove their English skills by either passing the institute’s Eignungsprüfung or submitting an accepted alternative proof of English language competence at enrolment or applying for an Äquivalenzbescheinigung early. Deutschkenntnisse are not required for the programme.

Bewerber*innen müssen zudem ihre Englischkenntnisse nachweisen, indem sie entweder die Eignungsprüfung des Instituts bestehen ODER bei der Einschreibung einen anerkannten alternativen Nachweis der englischen Sprachkompetenz einreichen ODER frühzeitig eine Äquivalenzbescheinigung beantragen.
