Master of Design – [ODL]

Master of Design – [ODL] is a Masters program taught at Raffles University, Malaysia. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1–2 years) options.

The Master of Design - [ODL] at Raffles University is a coursework programme focused on design studies. Students work through modules such as Design Issues and Practices, Design Research Methodology, Emerging Technologies and Processes, Design Thinking and Innovation, and Responsible Design, with a Final Master Project I and Final Master Project II.

Delivery uses Open Distance Learning, with learning materials on a Learning Management System (LMS) and weekly online face-to-face consultation. The programme is semi-self-paced, with alternative week consultation, and includes 14 academic weeks per semester. The programme credit is 40 credit hours, and students develop a creative portfolio.

The minimum requirements for admission in Master of Design – [ODL] at Raffles University for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Raffles University.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Raffles University as pre-requiste for admission in Master of Design – [ODL].

• A Bachelor’s Degree ( MQF Level 6) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 in the field of Art and Design, Design and Technology, Interior Design or a relevant field
• A Bachelor’s Degree (MQF Level 6) with CGPA of less than 2.50 in the field of Arts and Design, Design and Technology, Interior Design or a relevant field and a minimum of five years working experience in the related field
• Other equivalents/related qualifications to a Bachelor’s degree (MQF Level 6) recognised by the Malaysian Government.

Additional Requirement: Pass “RU Portfolio Assessment and Interview”.

Programme Admission Criteria through APEL.A: At least 30 years old in the year of application. Possess at least an STPM, Diploma, or equivalent qualification. Have relevant work experience. Pass the APEL.A assessment for Master’s Degree level.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ENGLISH ENTRY REQUIREMENT: Completed a Bachelor’s Degree in English. IELTS: 5.5. TOEFL: 550. TOEFL Essentials (Online): 8.5. TOEFL iBT: 60. PTE: 59. MUET: Band 4. Cambridge English / Linguaskill: 169. *International Students who did not meet the International English Requirement are required to enrol the RU English Preparation Programme (EPP) AND achieve the requirement of any equivalent English qualification.
