Geophysical Engineering Major
Introduction
Geophysical Engineering Major is a Bachelor program taught at Ambassador University, USA. Intake: Fall. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Bachelor of Science in Geophysical Engineering prepares students to combine physics, mathematics, and engineering principles to understand subsurface structures, resource exploration, and hazards. The curriculum covers basic and applied geophysics and includes geology and geophysics electives, while technical mastery focuses on seismic, gravity, magnetic, and electromagnetic methods. Students also learn to apply computational methods to process complex datasets and create 3D visualizations.
Students complete 132.5 credit hours and take part in a four-week Geophysical Engineering Summer Field Camp between their junior and senior years. The camp includes an immersive set of shallow subsurface investigations using methods such as seismic, gravity, electromagnetics, self-potential, resistivity, and ground-penetrating radar. It also includes deep seismic reflection profiling, plus geological mapping and integration of collected data, followed by formal written and public presentations.
