Astrobiology, B.S.
Introduction
Astrobiology, B.S. is a Bachelor program taught at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Astrobiology, B.S. is an interdisciplinary degree that draws on astronomy, biology, chemistry, and physics to explore the origins, evolution, and potential of life beyond Earth. Students build a foundation in physics, biology, and chemistry, then focus their studies through a concentration in Astrophysics, Biology, or Chemistry.
The program includes hands-on learning and research. In the first year, students take the Physics and Space Sciences Seminar, which introduces contemporary problems and research areas in physics and space sciences. Students may join research groups early, working on faculty topics such as detecting exoplanets, predicting planetary habitability, and modeling biosignatures and technosignatures.
Astrobiology students also gain professional experience through internships with organizations including NASA, the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Sandia National Laboratories, and the American Institute of Physics. The degree prepares graduates for careers in aerospace and biotechnology, as well as for graduate study in astrophysics, planetary science, or biology.
