Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre is a Bachelor program taught at Heidelberg College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Musical Theatre at Heidelberg College is a Theatre major concentration where you take classes in acting, musical theatre styles, music theory, dance, piano, and voice lessons. You also develop skills in singing, dancing, and acting, with options to study production, design, directing, creative writing, and education. The program offers three concentrations within the Theatre major: Musical Theatre, Acting, and Theatre Production, and students complete one concentration.

Course requirements for the Musical Theatre concentration include required Theatre Major courses such as Play Production: Stage Craft I, Introduction to Acting, Directing, and Evolution of Dramatic Arts, plus a Musical Theatre concentration set that includes Intermediate Acting, multiple dance courses, Introduction to Musical Theatre Styles, Advanced Musical Theatre Styles, and a Senior Capstone Experience. The program also includes performance and ensemble coursework, including Major Vocal Ensemble, Applied Major Lessons, and Performance Class. Students can audition and participate in productions after arriving on campus.

The minimum requirements for admission in Musical Theatre at Heidelberg College for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Heidelberg College.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Heidelberg College as pre-requiste for admission in Musical Theatre.

An audition is a required part of the admission process for all students planning to major in music and/or theatre. It also allows the award of music scholarships and participation awards for talented non-music majors.
