Air Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Technology (HVAC)
Introduction
Air Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Technology (HVAC) is a program taught at Madison Area Technical College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.
The Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology (HVAC) Associate Degree in Applied Science at Madison Area Technical College trains students to program, assemble, install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify HVAC/R equipment. Students work with residential and commercial HVAC/R systems, receive training in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and study how to size and design HVAC/R systems and building automation systems. The curriculum also uses computer and electronically controlled systems in manufacturing and facilities environments.
Delivery uses a mix of online and in-person learning. Students can attend full or part time, with classes offered at the Madison Truax campus. The program includes a required tool kit in the second year of the program, covered by second year course fees, and an HVAC Internship during the third semester (Summer).
The program prepares graduates for roles including HVAC/R Service Technician, HVAC/R Systems Designer, HVAC/R Systems Installer, Building Automation / Controls Technician, Building Automations System Designer, Building Automations System Installer, and Lead Facilities Mechanic.
