Introduction

Art History is a Bachelor program taught at Susquehanna University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Art History at Susquehanna University develops skills in visual analysis, critical thinking, and research. Students study how art communicates human visions of self and world, and classes address contemporary issues such as economics, politics, diversity, gender studies, and social justice. Students may also double major or add a minor in studio art, museum studies, anthropology, foreign languages, or environmental studies.

The program includes opportunities to present academic work, manage exhibitions, and gain professional experience through internships. Students can run the Lore Degenstein Gallery on campus as a paid employee or intern and imagine presenting a paper at a conference. Students are paired with an advisor and an application tool to guide course planning and scheduling.

Graduates prepare for work in museums, galleries, or educational and cultural institutions, or for graduate studies. Example employers and graduate placements listed include Christie’s Auction House, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Portland Museum of Art, Sanford Alderfer Auction Companies, Susquehanna Art Museum, University of Edinburgh, Temple University, and Boston University.
