Introduction

Public Policy and Law is a Bachelor program taught at Trinity College (CT), USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Public Policy and Law is an interdisciplinary program where students learn and practice methods for understanding and engaging with legal and public policy issues. Students work with analytical skills from the social sciences and humanities, including statistical analysis, legal argumentation, and close reading of texts. The curriculum examines stages of the policy and law lifecycle, from historical formation and the politics of passage to implementation realities.

The program also focuses on how lived experience and identity affect policy and law, including how social categories such as gender, race, immigration status, religion, and sexuality shape outcomes. Students consider the moral and ethical dimensions of significant issues, since law and policy are value laden. Through the major, students complete an internship coupled with an academic seminar and share insights in op-eds, connecting academic study with practice.
